Jordann Kian

My training and years of experience:

I am a licensed social worker with a Master's degree in Social Work and over 8 years of experience supporting women in diverse clinical settings. I've also been a teacher and student of Ayurveda and yoga for almost a decade, and because I live it, I know how to adapt these ancient and complex sciences to a modern woman's life. My background includes working as an acute medical and oncology social worker, a mental health clinician for youth in crisis, and a clinician in a medical office. I also specialize in trauma-informed care and body-focused psychotherapy through Somatic Experiencing International.

My approach blends Western therapeutic practices with the healing wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga, creating a holistic model that addresses both physical and energetic well-being. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches to support my clients, including:
Person-centred Therapy
Ecofeminist Theory
Attachment Theory
Strength-Based Therapy
Somatic Experiencing
Trauma Therapy
Holistic Healing Practices
Mindfulness & Meditation
Ayurveda & Yoga

This integrated approach allows me to meet clients where they are, offering a personalized and compassionate path to healing, transformation, and well-being.

Specializations

I specialize in helping women overcome challenges such as trauma, addiction, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and disordered eating. Ayurveda and yoga are powerful tools for restoring balance and bringing calm to every aspect of your being. This holistic approach nourishes every cell in your body, promoting optimal health and deepening your connection to yourself, your loved ones, and the world around you. I can support you in transforming your relationship with food, creating a sustainable self-care routine, and cultivating a personal yoga practice that enhances your ability to digest both life’s challenges and find nourishment. Ayurveda and yoga hold a special place in my heart and although we have yet to meet, so do you.

My style, focus and what I offer to clients:

I wear many hats and consider myself a forever learner. Not only do I love social work, but I also love serving others as a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic health practitioner. I am dedicated to these practices as they provide me with the groundedness and centeredness to show up in my work with an open-hearted, embodied, and compassionate presence. As such, I am inspired by Eastern philosophy, Buddhist psychology, and yogic principles and truly believe that every one of us has the innate power to use our minds and our bodies as resources to reach our full potential. I am happy to introduce yoga-based interventions such as meditation, breathwork, and yoga postures as complementary holistic modalities for mind-body-based healing. I am hopeful that by blending Eastern and Western approaches, the folks I work with will feel inspired to better themselves on an emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual level. I am a big fan of offering practical tools, psychoeducation, and fun homework that can assist you in getting to know yourself better, loving yourself more, and nurturing yourself as needed.
