Vanessa Deverell

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Registered Craniosacral Therapist (RCST). I completed my B.A. in Philosophy in 2015, my Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy practitioner training in 2022, and my M.A. in Counselling Psychology in 2023. My main ongoing training is the Somatic Experiencing practitioner course. Previous trainings include a 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga teacher training and Reiki I certification.

My sessions offer a blend of compassionate self-inquiry, somatic awareness and emotional processing, mindfulness practice, traditional talk therapy, and lifestyle coaching. Some counselling clients also come in for biodynamic craniosacral therapy if we both feel that hands-on somatic work would be of benefit to them. I believe that counselling is never a one-size-fits-all practice, and my goal is always to meet the moment with the offering that is most needed. Therefore, although you will learn techniques in our sessions, the focus is more on following the thread of self-inquiry and self-awareness than on optimizing specific outcomes. I work best with those clients who are willing to sit with uncomfortable feelings, to make friends with them and inquire about what they are trying to communicate, rather than push them away (or to work towards doing more of this!).

Clients often say that they leave our sessions feeling more grounded, calm, embodied, and hopeful. I love it when my clients can walk away with greater clarity on their situation and their role in it, having allowed the space to feel and move through some really hard emotions, and feeling connected with their intuition regarding the direction they need to move next.

In-person is preferred; video sessions are also available.

I commit to REACH OUT's request of one free client/year or 10 free sessions/year; beyond that, sliding scale spots at $50/session will be offered according to my current availability.
